[Though she's long since sobered up since the incident with Hux, Maketh's temper hasn't cooled. She's only suppressed it, kept it safely under the surface so she can think effectively. Something must be done. That's been made clear. But she needs to do it properly
She's in uniform when Kylo arrives and partially armored. Her suit isn't complete and she had to cannibalize several components to finish the weapon she promised. Either way, he might recognize the design. Mandalorian armor always was distinctive.
[Kylo arrives, clad as he usually is in his robes and mask.
He recognizes the distinctive pattern of the armor. There has to be a story
behind that. Maybe he'll ask her after she gives him what she
promised.]
Do you have it?
[He's forever eager to gain more power and obtain the perfection
that eludes him in the Dark Side.]
[Kylo easily catches it out of the air, feeling the vibrations of electricity coursing through it. He likes the feeling of the power beneath his fingertips. He's been around weapons his whole life, so he knows how to wield even an unfamiliar one without tripping over his own two feet. He wraps both gloved hands around it, feeling for the weight of the weapon.]
It can be modified. [Maketh clasps her hands behind her back, watching him carefully.] The weight, the power levels. I didn't have all the components. But it is effective against single and multiple opponents and compliments your strength.
[It's a weapon built for brute force and sheer power, with allowances for creativity.
[He finally had his own room and his own bed once more. He had thought he was used to small living quarters but living with Kylo Ren seemed to make everything feel even more cramped.
He smiled as he stretched out, wrapping the blankets around himself comfortably. The room was quiet and still which meant he should be able to rest peacefully. He had always struggled with insomnia for almost his entire life but tonight felt too quiet. He glanced at his blaster that he had laid on the bedside table but he doubted he would ever need it. Anakin and Ren would most likely detect and take care of any dangers before he could do anything.
It was still too quiet. It was ridiculous and he rolled over and shut his eyes, trying to will himself to sleep. It was more difficult to sleep when he wasn't exhausted but he had started to drift off when he heard a quiet noise from the bedroom door.
All his life Hux had been a light sleeper so he was instantly awake, listening to the footsteps approaching. He waited a few more moments before grabbing his blaster and rolling over suddenly, trying to see in the dark.]
Ren?
[He didn't lower the blaster when he recognized the figure looming over his bed.]
[Kylo had been more than grateful to finally be in a larger
apartment. The last one had just been too small to contain the
personalities of both him and Hux together. Their last explosive fight had
proven that. Now they were in a new one with Anakin, and finally, he
was able to have his own room again after almost three months of sharing a
bed with the general he hated. It was smaller than his chambers on the
Finalizer, but anything was better than fighting like cats and dogs
every night for covers. He still had some fading bite marks.
When he fell into bed that night, he was prepared to fall asleep
quickly. He'd never had any problems before, always usually exhausted after
a day of training. Here, Ahsoka, Anakin, and even Maketh had kept him
busy. But he just couldn't get comfortable. It was too quiet and he kept
rolling over, expecting to feel a pair of ice-cold feet on his own. When he
realized what was happening, there was only one solution for it. He
couldn't believe the lunacy that made him creep up the stairs and to Hux's
room.
He'd been expecting Hux to shoot at him and wasn't disappointed. He
was a soldier to the bone. Automatically, he drew his own weapon. The glow
from the lightsaber lit up the room in a devilish red, reflecting off of
Kylo's dark eyes. He just stood there, unsure of how to proceed, and
wondering what temporary insanity had led him to this course of action in
the first place.]
It's too quiet.
[He sat down on the edge of the bed, lightsaber still on, blinking
owlishly.]
[He didn't flinch when Kylo activated the blade, this was starting as many of their nightly fights went.
What came next, however, wasn't something he expected. He lowered the blaster, staring at Kylo for a few long moments. He knew he should have a mocking retort but he couldn't deny that he had been feeling the same way.
The blaster was slowly placed on the bedside table once more.]
Alright.
[This was madness, he never thought he would even be in this situation. He had never shared a bed with anyone on a nightly basis but he missed the warmth of Kylo's feet. He looked at him for a long moment but he knew he had already made his decision, as bizarre as it seemed.]
But the usual conditions apply. And I'm not explaining this to your grandfather. It was bad enough having to do it once already.
[Kylo breathed a sigh of relief when Hux agreed. His lightsaber
disappeared with a hiss. He'd been expecting to be shot at, or at the very
least, for Hux to come back with a biting remark that would have caused
another fight. This was surprising, but in a good way. He set his weapon
down next to his pillow and laid down, stealing more of the covers than Hux
thought was fair, as he was warrant to. The mention of Anakin made Kylo
smirk. He knew they must have seemed like a bizarre pair to his
grandfather, fighting, sharing clothes, and generally becoming the epitome
of the saying 'It's not what it looks like.']
It's not my fault if he thinks you're not good enough for me.
[Anakin had done everything but give the shovel talk to Hux, which
had at first been awkward, but now seemed amusing. It was going to be a
hell of an explanation in the morning if he found them in bed together.]
[Hux sharply yanked some of the blankets back towards himself with determination. He wasted no time in pressing his cold feet against Kylo's, satisfied. This was much better.]
It's alright, I know in reality that it's the other way around.
[He said with amusement as he held onto the blankets tightly, refusing to give up so much as an inch. Kylo was physically stronger than him but Hux had other ways of getting the upper hand. He was sure Kylo still had the bite marks to prove it.]
[He flinches a little when he feels Hux's cold feet up against his
own warm ones. One of these days, he was going to have to get Hux some
thick, woolly socks on a supply run for him to wear in bed. He growled a
little as he attempted to pry the blankets out of his grasp. Stubborn
ginger, he was constantly trying to wrap himself up in more than his fair
share. Some things never did change.]
I will have you know that I am a catch. Anyone would be lucky to have me.
[He taunted before growling as Kylo tried to take back the blankets. He had a tight grip and he leaned up, baring his teeth. He wasn't afraid to fight dirty if he had to. It was nice to have the bed warm once more, however, it would be easier to sleep after their nightly fight.]
Just because you've never bothered to see my good qualities doesn't mean
they're not there.
[Of course they'd fall right back into their old habits as soon as
they were in bed. He spared a brief thought for Anakin, hoping that his
grandfather was sleeping and didn't hear them. There'd be no way to
convince him they weren't having sex if he did. He tackled Hux, reaching
out to take back the blankets, when he felt a snap of teeth.]
What good qualities do you possibly have? Please, enlighten me.
[Hux nearly yelped as suddenly Kylo was tackling him but he didn't pause before grabbing Kylo's arm and sinking his teeth into the small of his wrist with a snarl. He wasn't so easily shook off, sinking his teeth down just enough to make a point as he tried to wiggle free.
When he finally let go his cheeks were flushed as he grinned, tugging blankets back towards him.]
Loyalty, single-mindedness, and an abundance of sarcasm.
[Kylo wasn't about to give up as easily as all that. He jabbed an elbow into Hux's side and swung a pillow at his face at the same time, pulling the blankets back towards him.]
That's going to leave a mark! [What would Grandpa say in the morning?]
But you also snore, hog the blankets, and talk with your mouth full at dinner.
[Hux did yelp in pain this time, that was going to leave a mark as well but he recovered fast only to get hit in the face with a pillow. He growled low in his throat as he looked at Kylo, eyes narrowed. ]
Well, you should have thought about that before you stole the blankets! [Hux grabbed Kylo by the shoulders and tried to shove him down on the bed, despite their size difference. He may not have had the strength but all he needed to do was pin Kylo down for just long enough to get his blankets back.]
[Kylo flips it around in his hands in one graceful, fluid movement.
Yes, this is what he was made for. He's always been good with weapons, good
at using them to hurt people, kill them if he had to. It's like his hands
have found a new friend, something to experiment with and get better. He
jabs it experimentally towards Maketh, not hard enough to actually make
contact, just to get a feel for the length and weight of it.]
Yes. [Hmm, he feels like there's something else he's supposed to
say. Oh yeah.] ...thank you.
Like you don't do the first two. And you get into more trouble just by
talking than I ever have.
[Hux just wouldn't quit. Kylo was curious to see what he'd do next
and so Hux managed to press his advantage, pushing down on Kylo just far
enough for the blankets to start slipping away again.]
I don't think so. [He wrapped his legs around Hux and used his
momentum to flip Hux over, pinning him down onto the mattress. His hands
were on Hux's shoulders.] Now what are you going to do? Got some
military strategy that will get you out of this? [He really should
have known better than to taunt the general.]
[Kylo was too strong for him to really resist, finding himself pinned to the mattress. Most would have given up at this point but Hux refused to surrender the blankets so easily, especially since Kylo had decided to taunt him.]
And you weigh as much as one, too.
[He knew he wouldn't be able to shove Kylo off. He reached up to touch the fresh bite mark on Kylo's wrist, pressing down for a moment as he pondered his options.]
I suppose you've won then.
[He could pretend defeat, it would be the only way to get Kylo off of him. He had no intention of giving up, despite his words.]
[He could take any insults from the general, knowing that he'd won. A hiss escaped from his lips as he felt the pressure on his bite mark. Then he slid off Hux and back onto his side of the bed, securing the blankets around him.]
[He gives her a brief nod. He can talk about the Death Star. The weapon holds no emotion for him. Starkiller is the one that weighs heavily on his mind.]
[Hux smirked as Kylo settled down, letting him enjoy his victory for a few moments.
And then he struck.
This time he went to sink his teeth into Kylo's shoulder as hard as he could, grabbing onto the blankets to yank them away when Kylo would let go. He was grateful to have sharp teeth.]
Apparently, you don't remember that I never surrender, Ren.
[He wrapped the blankets around himself, smug and now warm.]
