It can be modified. [Maketh clasps her hands behind her back, watching him carefully.] The weight, the power levels. I didn't have all the components. But it is effective against single and multiple opponents and compliments your strength.
[It's a weapon built for brute force and sheer power, with allowances for creativity.
[Kylo flips it around in his hands in one graceful, fluid movement.
Yes, this is what he was made for. He's always been good with weapons, good
at using them to hurt people, kill them if he had to. It's like his hands
have found a new friend, something to experiment with and get better. He
jabs it experimentally towards Maketh, not hard enough to actually make
contact, just to get a feel for the length and weight of it.]
Yes. [Hmm, he feels like there's something else he's supposed to
say. Oh yeah.] ...thank you.
[He gives her a brief nod. He can talk about the Death Star. The weapon holds no emotion for him. Starkiller is the one that weighs heavily on his mind.]
[Maketh bites back her grimace as best she can. Even without the pike, Kylo is much taller and outweighs her by a significant amount. She has her sword and armor, but the pike is a weapon meant to plow through all but the best defenses. She's not a combat specialist.
It's going to hurt. It's probably going to hurt a lot.
Maketh lifts her chin. It's a test. He wants to see how much pain she can take. Just like the Academy.]
Of course, Master Ren.
[She draws her sword and shifts into stance. Endure, soldier. There's no possible way she can win, but she can take it without showing fear.]
[Kylo likes fighting. He likes it an awful lot. It's one of the few things that he's ever been good at. He might as well derive some pleasure from it. Maketh just happens to be a useful tool for combat.
He shifts his feet and his grip on the weapon, taking up an offensive pose. He jabs the weapon in a quick movement towards her midsection.]
[Don't try to block straight on. A stronger opponent like Kylo will just knock her straight down. Maketh squares her shoulders and twists her blade, dancing out of the way.
Deflect, soldier.
She swings a blow at his wrist. Aim small, make him think.]
[Kylo has become used to using his height and weight against his opponents, pushing them back until they're pinned down, and he can strike out. Maketh isn't new to combat, so his style of attack is a little different. He brings the force pike around, deflecting the blow coming at his wrist with a little bit of awkwardness. He's not yet used to the differences between this new weapon and his lightsaber.
He moves forward again, faster on his feet than someone of his size looks. He aims for her throat, going straight for a crippling blow.]
[Stars, he's fast. A little uncertain about the weapon, but picking it up like a natural. Briefly Maketh wonders if that's the Force at work, or simply Kylo's fighting abilities. Either way he's strong. Dangerous if provoked.
Dangerous if she doesn't dodge in time.
Maketh doesn't bother with anything fancy. She simply twists out of the way, reposting off his blow to aim one of her own at his arm. Get him off balance, don't let him push.]
[She's dodging him and on the defensive, only striking out when
provoked. Despite his natural tendency to have others think for him, in
combat, Kylo is good at thinking up new strategies. He decides to take a
different tack, a decidedly un-Kylo Ren-like approach as he uses the pike
to bat away her strike at his arms.
His next few moves are done in a flurry, striking out fast, not
looking to actually land anywhere. He's seeking to make her use more energy
blocking him, tiring her out, and herding her into the nearest corner. If
he can pin her down, she won't be able to block him when he goes in for the
final blow.]

Maketh nods just once.]
Does it suit you?

I want information about the Death Star. Everything you know.
[She lifts her chin.]
What will that cost me?

Spar with me. I want to test this weapon.
